I'm going to introduce myself as well! I'm Anne, a current Bryn Mawr frosh living in the Merion 2nd quad, and I'm *so* very excited to be meeting you all this fall.

I'm a Medieval Studies major, which I'm doing as an independent major, and I plan to go on to grad school in the field once I graduate. My main interests right now are hagiography, millenarian movements, eschatological thought, and heresies, most specifically in early medieval Scandinavia. I'm thinking about maybe doing a minor in Archaeology (which is what I originally intended to major in) or possibly Linguistics. Or Theater.

As for things I do on campus, I work at Uncommon Grounds (the cafe in our campus center) and am a member of Lighted Fools, the bi-co improv and sketch comedy troupe. So, if you are possibly interested in either of those things, just ask! I'm also trying to get intramural, and eventually intercollegiate roller derby started up at Bryn Mawr.

My brain isn't functioning very well right now, so instead of writing some additional paragraphs, I'm going to go into list mode, yay. Some things I likeCollapse )

So, yeah. I'm fun! Ask me questions about anything!

So... I'm yet another current Mawrter.
My name is DJ, and I'm a frosh right now. I really, really, really like watching movies. I also like to write, read, and listen to music. I usually like strange genres in all of those areas. (My icon is from Waking Life, for example.)
I'm 95% sure at this point that I'll be an English major. Probably will minor in something as well -- most likely film. (You don't have to declare until the spring of your sophomore year.) So if you have questions about those things, feel free to ask me.
Some campus activities I do... I work at Haffner. I highly recommend that, if you're physically able, you should work there next year. I'm in a few queer organizations. But I just mostly watch movies a lot. A lot. (I'm taking two film classes this semester and watch movies for fun, too.) Heh.

OK, the reason I'm introducing myself is because I'll be one of the CDAs next year. CDA = Community Diversity Assistant. The job is basically how it sounds -- I'm supposed to promote diversity and integration on campus. Each of us gets assigned a dorm, and I'm with Rhoads South. So if you have questions about diversity here, feel free to ask. I don't know a lot about certain types of diversity, but I know a lot about other types, especially queer issues. I also know a fair amount about the accessibility department. Oh, and I'm from Utah, so I can talk to you guys about the transition to the East coast if you're not from the East. By the time you guys come here next year, I'll have gone through trainings and will probably be able to answer even more of your questions.

If you have questions about movies, you can also feel free to ask. :)

I don't know what I'll be doing during open campus weekend, but I hope to see all of you there.
Oh, and because it's not obvious online, I'm deaf. JFYI. It doesn't get in the way too often, though.

Hiya all!!!
My name is Jill, and I am a sophomore at BMC. The only reason I have a livejournal is so that I can talk to prospective/incoming students, yes I am a creep like that! That is why my livejournal entries are nonexistent. But I will be a Hall Adviser next year, so maybe one of you will be living on my hall, Denbigh 1st!!!
I am a history major, education/pysch minor.
I also work in Erdman as a supervisor(it is the best, if you are doing work study, I highly suggest you work in Erdman dining hall, then you will be working with me!). Oh, and I couldn't forget, I play rugby too! If anyone is even slightly interested, let me know! I am more than happy to tell you all about the team!
If anyone has any questions feel free to ask, and if you are staying in Denbigh for prospective students weekend, come meet me, I live there now!!

Also, Alyssa lives on my hall, she is one of my frosh (I am a customs person right now!!), and Weezie "plays"(she is sickly) rugby with me!!!

Hello, ladies!!!

I'm Weezie, class of 2010. I'm a good friend of alyshafisha and, after seeing her introduction, decided to follow suit. I was a fall ED applicant and I haven't regretted it for a second! I live in Rhoads South, on the second floor, in a double the size of a matchbox. It's great! ♥ I'm a potential Sociology or Psychology major, Gender and Sexuality minor. I'm also a Customs person for next year (AS OF YESTERDAY! WOOOO!) and my partner and I have been placed on Rockefeller 1st 1st (Rock can be a little confusing. Basically, the first floor's two sections are seperated by three or four steps. If you're below them, you're on 1st 1st, and above is 1st 2nd. Same principle applies to the second floor). I am way beyond excited about becoming a Customs person, because it's something I've wanted to do since I applied. So, if any of you are placed in Rock for Accepted Students Weekend, come find me! I'm pretty loud, and I look like a boy. Also, "Weezie" isn't necessarily the most common name... You can seek me out even if you aren't in Rock during the open house. I'm more than willing to meet y'all and answer any questions! I also wanted to let you know that I'm on facebook and I've joined the Bryn Mawr '11 group, so that's another easy way to reach me.

I really can't wait to meet you all!! I hope you'll all try to attend the program in April, and I (selfishly) hope that you decide on Bryn Mawr!! Believe me, it comes HIGHLY recommended.

Bryn Mawr Love,
Weezie '10

Hey guys! Guess what! I just found out that I'm going to be a customs person next year! I know you don't know now or anything, but if you get placed in Rhoads South 2nd next year or for Accepted Students Weekend (which I STRONGLY suggest you attend) I'll be one of you three customs people. Feel free to say hello :)

I got into Smith and Bryn Mawr. If there is anybody out there who would like to convince me to go to Bryn Mawr over Smith, please do so here!

-I have no idea on my major. I could double major or major and minor.
- I'm not a huge partier. I also don't want a boyfriend.
- I sorta like Smith's size better. It's bigger, and I think that may lead to more options. Does anyone feel that Bryn Mawr is too small?
- What are some other differences between the schools? I visited both, and they seemed a lot alike.

I'm Rebecca/Becca R.G. (you don't even want to get into my last name unless you speak German and/or Polish). I'm from a 1.7 mile^2 suburb in central NJ, though I go to Schechter of Essex and Union, up in West Orange. Currently, I'm on my senior-year internship, meaning I work at a horse farm in Bedminster four days a week instead of going to school. Not only that, but I get my lessons free in exchange for constantly fun unpaid labor. I love my life. Any other horse nuts around here? Anybody know anything about the riding team they can tell me?
Other likes and dislikes? Pretty much none of the latter, other than my high school, which was scarily homogeneous. Definitely looking forward to a more diverse group. I love dance (I take ballet, tap, and Israeli, and have taken jazz and hip-hop in the past), music (a cappella, folk, strange and nerdy songs like Jonathan Coulton's, some rock and pop, almost anything Israeli), singing (I have a weak spot for opera, especially coloratura runs.), horses, and math .
My bookshelf leans heavily towards fantasy and scifi, and the authors I gave out as my favorites at college interviews (just because they're higher quality than most of what I read, but still fun) are: Ursula K. Le Guin, Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, and, shoot, I can't remember which other one I chose. Probably Asimov, though I think I chose a female. Any and all recommendations are welcome, other than trashy teen fiction which has recently started to annoy me.
The only other important fact about me is that I'm short and not sure whether I love or hate it.
Also that I had better shut up before people stop reading this monster of an introduction.
Feel free to friend me, and I will do the same.
--Becca R.G.
PS: My icon is me in my prom dress, which was a Renaissance Faire dress.

Hey ladies! I don't know why it took me so long to do this, but hi! I'm Alyssa Fischer. I"m class of 2010, and the mod of the 2010 community. I'm from Ocean City, New Jersey. I'm a Cities major, and I sing in the Looney Tunes and the Chamber Singers, which are both bi-co. One is an a cappella group and the other is more of a small choir. I can answer any questions you may have about a cappella, choir, Cities, Chinese, working at Haffner, being from New Jersey and getting away from home, what it's like having a boyfriend at home as opposed to hooking up with Haverboys (I've done both), or just life in general, especially with respect to the Bi-Co, because I spend a large majority of my time at Haverford, and more than half of my good friends are actually fordians. Feel free to add me on lj, though I don't update very much, or on Facebook. I'm very friendly, and really hope to hear from at least a few of you!!

I'm Allison, otherwise known as Alli Z, and I'm class of "oh-ten," as I like to call it. I do not know what I'm majoring in yet, but it will probably be History Of Art and/or French; I'm also interested in English, FemGen (Feminist and Gender Studies), and Peace and Conflict Studies (can you tell, I'm REALLY undecided haha). I live in Erdman, I'm a member of SPT (Shakespeare Performance Troupe) and love theatre, I do Scottish Country Dance (which I just started when I got here and I LOVE it), and I play ice hockey on occasion (we have a really cool for-fun league called Lame Ducks that's super awesome, yo). I love music and books and art, and my tastes are way too extensive to list here, but I love most everything and especially love trying new things (with music, mostly...I'm rather married to my favorite books, haha).

I was ED, and I absolutely love this school like nothing else. If you have any questions, please ask me; one of my favorite things to talk about is BMC :). Feel free to friend me and I'll friend you back, I can't wait to meet you all, yay!
